© 2004 - Union County Motorsports Association. All rights reserved. About Us The Union County Motorsports Association was founded by local friends and long time racers Mike Petrie and Neil Valentine. Mike Petrie took the position of President and Neil took the role of Secretary/Treasurer. Soon after, Henry Turner of Big Buck GNCC fame came into the picture and assumed the role of Vice President and the association had a full board. The UCMA was started with one goal in mind: "To Preserve and Promote All Forms of Motorsports in Union County". This goal has become the mission statement by which we operate today. Union County has a rich heritage in motosports. At one time there were more Grand National (Later Winston Cup) drivers in Union than any other county in the state of South Carolina. Some very famous local speedways have hosted some very famous drivers since the 1950's and 1960's when car racing was still in its infancy. Mike Petrie has been in Drag racing since he was 15 years old and continues today holding numerous records. Neil Valentine has raced everything from cars to go-karts to boats. Both of these individuals saw the very positive economic impact that motorsports as a whole can bring to any community and worked hard to carry this message to the local officials that govern Union County. From the Mayor to the Chamber of Commerce to the County Council to the Tourism Board you will not find a more helpful group of individuals interested in your success and the success of Union County.
Today the UCMA is 150 members strong and growing. Members come from many fields of racing. From Dirt Track to Karting to Drag Racing to four different disciplines of Motorcycle Racing. Please come join us. It's going to be a great ride!
